NHC | Announcement on 6 kinds of “three novel foods” including β-1,3/α-1,3-glucan

On April 25, 2021,the National Health Commission issued the announcement and interpretation of 6 "three novel foods" including β-1,3/α-1,3-glucan, and approved β-1,3/α-1,3-Glucan and other 3 novel food materials and two novel food additives including protease and phosphoinositide phospholipase C ,among which the recommended consumption of β-1,3/α-1,3-glucan is ≤ 3 g/day, which is not suitable for infants, pregnant women and lactating women. Labels and instructions shall label people who are not suitable,The corresponding food safety indicators shall meet the following requirements:Pb≤0.5mg/kg、As≤0.5mg/kg、Cd≤0.2mg/kg、Hg≤0.02mg/kg、nitrate≤100mg/kg、total plate count≤5000CFU/g、coliform＜3.0MPN/g; the maximum use amount of dihydroquercetin in beverages,also in fermented milk and flavored fermented milk is 20mg/L, and the maximum use amount in Cocoa products, chocolate and chocolate products is 70mg/kg,which is not suitable for infants,children, pregnant women and lactating women. Labels and instructions shall label people who are not suitable,The corresponding food safety indicators shall meet the following requirements:Pb≤0.5mg/kg、As≤0.3mg/kg、Cd≤0.5mg/kg、Hg≤0.1mg/kg、total plate count≤1000CFU/g、coliform＜3.0MPN/g、Mould & Yeast≤100CFU/g、salmonella & staphylococcus aureus is absent; MP108 can be used as a bacteria in infant food; Nannochloropsis gaditana is not suitable for infants, pregnant women and lactating women, and the label and instructions shall label people who are not suitable.
