Registration Service of Novel Food in China
According to Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, to produce or import novel food ingredients, the manufacturer/importer should submit safety assessment materials of the intended product to National Health Commission of the people’s Republic of China (NHC) for review. For applications that comply with food safety requirements, a license would be approved and publicly announced. 
Definition of novel food ingredientNovel food refers to the following substances that have no traditional eating habit in China, including:• Animals, plants and microorganisms• Components extracted from animals, plants and microorganisms• Food ingredients that have changed in the original structure• Other newly developed food ingredients• Have not been listed in Food Safety National Standard(GB2760, GB14880)Requirements for the use of novel food ingredientNovel food ingredient should have the characteristics of food materials and conform to the requirements of nutritive.
